Orient Power started the era of composite tension insulator design and manufacture in 1999. Since then, Silicone Rubber has been used as housing material. The first applications were composite suspension insulator for transmission line and electrical towers.
With the increasing demand for composite tension insulator, this technology has been growing rapidly. At the same time, initial operating experiences led to optimization of the Silicone Rubber properties. For these reasons, Orient Power decided to focus primarily on HTV Silicone Rubber technology (HTV = High Temperature Vulcanizing). Since the early nineties, such composite insulators have been installed up to a voltage of 800 kV for applications in lines and systems.

The voltage range of the composite tension insulators is from 10 kV up to 1000 kV for AC and DC applications.
The understanding of customer requirements and long-term experience in the design and manufacture of composite tension insulators makes Orient power the first choice partner for today’s special challenges such as the new generation of braced line posts for compact lines, 530kN rated composite insulator and high strength station posts.
